Since in 1989, 192 countries committed to theChildren's rights convention, childhood is considered as a subject with full rights, not as an object of protection. However, there is still much to be done and this is how we must express it every 20 November, the day on which we celebrate the Universal Children's Day: protect children.

The figures that Unicef gives us are still chilling. According to Unicef, almost24,000 children under the age of five they continue to die every day and more than50 million children are not registered at birth, condemning them to remain invisible to the world. In the section on social and armed conflicts, this organization estimates that more than 1,000 million children live in countries or territoriesaffected by armed conflict. And furthermore, 150 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 arevictims of child labor and only half of adolescents in the developing world attend secondary school.

Unfortunately, the rights of millions of children in all countries of the world continue to be violated daily, and many challenges remain today. More than 4 out of 5 children in the world live in countries where the gap between rich and poor is widening, demonstrating the fact that achieving children's rights is largely a matter of equity and social justice .

Hunger remains the most preventable cause of death affecting children. An estimated 180 million children are victims of chronic malnutrition, which affects their physical and intellectual development forever. At the same time, another 20 million are struggling to cope with severe acute malnutrition. Malnutrition is the essence of the basis of poverty, exclusion and vulnerability of these children.

Therefore, there is a general conscience in society that cries out because the Children's rights convention It stops being a utopia and becomes a reality in many corners of the planet.
